- Once you have a domain name you will need hosting. It is very likely that you can get hosting through whatever domain registrar you used to buy your domain name.
- You will need to begin to carefully consider how people will be searching for the product(s) you have to offer. What are the keywords that they will type into the search engine in order to find what they are looking for? Be careful, this is not as obvious as it seems. The most obvious keywords are the most competitive and very, very difficult and expensive to get ranked in the search engines.
- After you have determined several keywords to work into your site you will need to develop your site taxonomy, how will the pages all work together. A road map if you will. This can be a very simple process with 10 to 15 pages or may require a more in-depth approach if you require additional pages. Keeping it simple in the beginning is a good Idea. You can add on later.
- Once the taxonomy is in place you can begin the process of building your website. There are many useful programs available to accomplish this. You can work through a website builder within your domain host, you can use WordPress or a number of other build-it-yourself tools available. It is recommended to hire a professional to accomplish this. It is a bit more difficult that it appears. Plus a pro can work with the nuances of site development to provide you with the branding on the website that you need to be consistent with that of your store, along with many other items of expertise they can provide.

Vertical gardening has become all the rage over the last 3-4 years, especially for those living in urban areas where gardening space is limited. They supply the homeowner with fresh vegetables and herbs while adding a great shot of color to a typically, grey, bland surrounding.
The idea of having a garden that is positioned vertically has been around for hundreds of years, from the ancient Egyptians and Persians to areas of Europe including Italy and Spain.
Building a vertical garden is not a difficult task but will take some planning on your part to ensure its viability, stability and longevity.
Here are some of the basic steps you will need to take to get your garden “off the ground.”
There are many options for your garden foundation; a blank wall, the side of your home, a shed and so on. Being concerned with urban living these may not be an option for you. A great product for starting your garden is an ordinary pallet. You will first need to seal the backside of the pallet and on end so soil will not escape. Simply measure and cut a piece of wood that will fit to your required pallet specifications.
Once this is completed fill the pallet with a well blended mix of soil and compost. You can mix your own or simply purchase a bag or two from your local garden center.
With the pallet still on it backside, begin to add your plants in the slot. Most often a pallet will have 4-5 slots in which you can add you plants. You will want to use seedling for your plants. You can buy these or simply start in smaller pots on your own. Start by planting at the bottom first working your way to the top. Be sure to pack the soil firmly but not so tight as to choke the plants.Give them an adequate amount of space side-to0-side for growing throughout the summer months.
Once planted, as with a typical garden, water the plants thoroughly. You will want to allow your plants to take root in your new vertical garden, so you should leave the pallet flat for at least 2 weeks to allow this to take place. Once the plants have a firm root system, stand the garden on end and you are set to go.
Another option for a vertical garden is using a lattice-type structure. These can be purchased at your local garden center also. The main difference with this type of structure is you will be planting in a long box and then allowing the plants to grow up the lattice. Vine-type plants like tomatoes are perfect for this application.
Be sure to get a box that is slightly longer than the lattice and at least 12 inches deep to allow for sustainable root growth.

With a little bit of creativity and physical effort you can bring the farm to your high-rise patio, apartment deck or wherever you may live in a city. You can enjoy the freshness of home-grown vegetables and the pleasing sight of greenery in your city scape.
After much anticipation and a great deal of back and forth, the Saskatoon City Council has narrowly passed a measure to fund a 12,000 seat multi-purpose arena. Construction is to begin in the spring of 2014.
Mayer Walter Bentley made the announcement last Wednesday during the annual city council conference.
“This is a great opportunity for us to expand our economic reach while providing 250 jobs for the next 2 years. Once the arena has been completed, another 110 will be permanent.” said Mayer Bentley.
During the feasibility study done in 2012, the arena committee looked at several arena complexes in other cities in Canada and in the United States.
“One arena stood out as being very similar to that of what the arena committee was looking for meeting much of the criteria of our plan,” stated Bentley. That is the Van Andel Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA.
Than Van Andel Arena was built in 1996 in Grand Rapids which has a similar city population as well as a suburban population of nearly a half of a million residents. This is very close to what the population of the our area.
The greatest concern of the city managers was being able to consistently fill the arena and provide quality entertainment. The Van Andel Arena has the luxury of being the home of the Grand Rapids Griffins hockey club which is affiliated with the Detroit Red Wings of the National Hockey League.
“We have begun a partnership with the Van Andel Arena management group to help guide us through the process of securing a franchise for the new arena,” said Saskatoon City Manager, Bill Ingrham.
Since the announcement of the new arena was made, many people have been contacting our offices asking about the name. With a majority of the funding coming from tax revenue from the City of Saskatoon a name was agreed upon that would one, promote the city of Saskatoon, and two, give it a global brand. The name unanimously voted upon out of several finalist is Global Arena of Saskatoon.
“We feel we have nailed the name perfectly providing global awareness and local flavor,” said Mayor Bentley.
It was reported recently that the construction will be managed by a local Saskatoon firm, AR Construction Corp. We looked into the history of AR Construction Corp. and found that they have an international reputation for developing high quality constructed facilities around the world. Their acclaim to fame, if you will, is the Carter Resort Complex in Montreal, a 100,000 square foot construction developed on 34 acres of St. Lawrence River property.
“Our excitement about this project is hard to contain, said Ingrham. “We have been looking for an opportunity to expand the City of Saskatoon into a more widely utilized area.”
The Saskneer will be adding a featured section to this website for the duration of the construction of the Global Arena. The competition among car insurance companies is well documented. There has been story after story of car insurance companies taking customers for each other with flimsy promises and short lived discounts.
Recently an initiative was introduced at the Canadian Conference of Car Insurers in October 2013 (CCCI) that revolved around them putting aside their rivalries for a great cause. With the increase of natural disaster both at home and abroad, a proposal was introduced by Philip Remeax. Philip is the CEO and Managing Partner of Northern Insurance Company based is Saskatoon, Canada. Philip went on record as stating that he had seen far too many people suffering in the world form natural disasters and he personally is committed to do something about it.
During Philip’s keynote address at CCCI he laid out a strategic plan to help fund four major disaster relief organizations both in Canada and internationally. The four being The Canadian Red Cross, Catholic Relief Services, Wold Missions and CARE. His initiative is based on a percentage of gross revenue collected by all car insurers in Canada. The reason for this stems from the fact the Philip believes that vehicle emissions are a leading contributor to climate change and therefor are impacting the forces of nature, thus an increase of natural disasters. Initially, this was a tough sell, but after presenting much scientific evidence to the validity of his claim, many of the agencies that provide car insurance have come aboard to help fund this initiative. Out of the 392 insurance companies that cover vehicles, 277 have agreed to participate. This will be managed through a non-payed four level management team. The organization will be know as CIDRA or Car Insurers Disaster Relief Association.
The car insurance industry in Canada is a 79 billion dollar industry annually. Philip believes with the number of companies committed to helping by providing just .5% of their annual car insurance sales this can raise early 3 billion dollars over the course of two years. Split equally among the four agencies this will be a huge shot in the arm to their ability to provide immediate response and equipment to areas struck by natural disasters.
Given the recent typhoon in the Philippines, the late fall tornado outbreak in the Midwest states of the United States, even the devastating Japan earthquake of 2010, this kind of financial support cannot come soon enough.
The key to this type of funding is the distribution of funds. Philip outlined this at the CCCI. Each month the participating insurance agencies will deposit their portion of their revenue in an escrow account set up by the North American Bank of Canada. We will not monitor this transaction to make sure that those who agreed to participate actually are participating. It is on the honor system. Philip has stated that if the insurance companies have pledged to help then they will follow through with their pledge. On the first of every month starting in January of 2014 funds will be transferred by direct deposit to the four relief organizations. At the end of every quarter the four relief organizations will provide a detailed report outlining the verifiable expenditures for their relief efforts as concerned with the funding from CIDRA.

We have all seen the commercials that bombard our airwaves for medications with names that we barely can pronounce.
The actors are typically in a lifestyle situation with family and friends, fishing, at a dinner party, cycling, exercising and various other situations. They begin to describe their medical issues and then proceed to tell us how their doctor prescribed this certain medicine to take care of their medical issue.
What is alarming to me is after they describe in detail the benefits of the specific medication, the conversation turns to that of what adverse side effects these medications can have on the person taking them. It appears that some of the adverse effects are far worse then if the person did not take the medication at all.
For instance the drug Crestor, used to lower cholesterol, has these side effects:
- unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, or weakness;
- fever, unusual tiredness, and dark colored urine;
- swelling, weight gain, urinating less than usual or not at all; or
- nausea, upper stomach pain, itching, loss of appetite, dark urine, clay-colored stools, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes).
Less serious side effects may include:
- headache, depressed mood;
- mild muscle pain;
- joint pain;
- sleep problems (insomnia), nightmares;
- mild nausea; or
- stomach pain or indigestion.
The point of this article is to help you to begin to develop an understanding of the seriousness of taking medications for every aliment you may have. Granted, some ailments can only be treated with chemical medications. For the most part, our medical problems begin with what we put in our bodies. A majority of the population is overweight and/or obese. This does not come from eating right. With this weight gain comes some serious medical issues like diabetes.
A reduction on processed sugars and processed foods will begin to turn the tide of a majority of our medical issues. I once listened to a talk by a nutrition expert who’s father was consistently sick and taking a hand full of pills everyday. He could barely walk on his own and his moods were less than desirable. Over a period of time she was able to convince her father to eliminate all processed sugars and foods from his diet. Within six months of doing this he had eliminates 80% of his medications, he was moving better than he had in ten years and his mood was a complete 180 degrees from what it was prior.
As a population we are all looking for the instant fix and the fast change. We are over medicating ourselves to a degree that is not healthy. The drug companies are raking in billions of dollars in an effort to “fix” our health problems. The side effects of the medications the drug companies put on the market can be worse that the actual medical issue. the point is that we need to take control of our lives and begin to take care of ourselves. When we begin to eat better foods, whole food, green foods, unprocessed food and exercise more we will start to see a nation of healthy people not having to rely on a synthetic drug to get through the day.
